Born from a blend of yellow and red - orange therefore is a mixture of the energy that is red and the happiness that is yellow. Orange not only represents the feelings of warmth and enthusiasm but also that of adventure, sexuality and freedom.

This makes Orange a very powerful colour indeed.

Popular Culture

Psychologically, orange is a very stimulating colour. Often found in citrus fruits, it is commonly associated with Vitamin C and a healthy diet. Or not (pumpkin spice latte wink wink). And yes, orange and its parents red and yellow are quite common colours in the food industry. Orange also makes bold statements and stirs up controversy when it stands on the Presidential Podium. The orangish looking Carnelian stone is a popular healing gemstone known for its propogation of positivity and fertility. Speaking of spiritual stuff, Leo is the star sign associated with the colour orange - a marker of a regality and flamboyance.

Positive Traits of Orange

It is a colour that will cheer you up and make you look at the bright side of things. The colour orange is heavily associated with outwardness, sociability and like mentioned earlier - adventure. These combined traits make orange a colour of creativity and self-confidence, of the woman who loves to be out there, doing things, achieving her goals and being fearless while doing so.

Negative Traits of Orange

While all the above is true, orange is also a colour of excess. Excess confidence or conviction could make you superficial and insincere. While orange loves to socialize, too much of extroversion could also mean a lack of emotional independence wherein you always have to be in someone’s company to feel good about yourself and your life.

Putting On Orange

Is orange really the new black? We don’t know about that. But a simple look at your Instagram or Pinterest feed will tell you how orange has made a bold mark on the fashion scene.

Here are our top four favourites of celebs striking orange threads,

What Orange says about you

If you like the colour orange - you adapt to life’s setbacks and major changes rather easily. You can be quite domineering and assertive but also patience is something you might seriously lack. You can also tend to be indecisive and unpredictable.

If you dislike the colour orange - you might very well be an introvert. You are not a fan of socializing and/or partying and aren’t comfortable in large groups. But you do enjoy the company of a select few with who’s your wavelength matches. You loathe showing-off and tend not to talk about your interests and opinions much.

There are many shades to the colour Orange, and every shade is associated with a subtle vice or virtue, a feeling or emotion.
