Grey is the queen of colours, because it makes everything else look good. It is the lightest shade of black- the colour of mystery, blended with white- the colour of purity, grey is the colour of compromise, wisdom and maturity. It represents neutrality and this influence keeps it foreign, remote and distant, from people and other colours. It is considered to be an emotionless, timeless and moody colour. However it is also modest, intellectual, dignified and hard-working.
Grey is associated with the Kaalratri form of Durga, also known as Shubhankari, which means dark knight. The goddess is said to protect her worshipers from evil.

The famous erotic novel ‘Fifty shades of Grey’ uses the colour name grey as the character name, to showcase the facets of his personality; he can go from being a gentleman one minute to S&M maniac the next. Grey’s anatomy is a TV series which uses the term Grey to depict the nature and lifestyle of the character. Both these characters are shown to be the epitomes of wisdom in their particular fields, they are high achievers, dignified but their personal lives are highly disturbed, they have difficulty in finding love.
