The 68 th edition of Miss Universe pageant 2019 took place in Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta on
Sunday night. The event that was aired on Fox and hosted by Steve Harvey brought 90
beautiful and intelligent women together. We all were eager to find out who will be bringing
home the title this year.
And the winner of Miss Universe 2019 is...

On 8 th December, Miss South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi ruled all at the Miss Universe 2019
pageant. By the end of the event, Catriona Gray of the Philippines crowned her
successor Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa. This 26-year-old woman excelled through different
rounds, be it the swimsuit or the evening gown struts and social issue questions or the final
chance of explaining why she would be the perfect choice for this prestigious title. Sunday
night, when she won the title of Miss Universe 2019 she took some time to speak about her
life’s mission. Tunzi mentioned that she wants children to look at her and see her face and
she also wants them to see their faces reflected in her.

Zozibini Tunzi is not only a model from South Africa but she also a beauty pageant titleholder
of Miss South Africa. She is known to be the third woman representing South Africa to have
won the title of Miss Universe. After Leila Lopes who won the Miss Universe 2011, she is the
first black woman to win the crown.
Her page on the Miss Universe site will give you a clear picture that she loves to promote
natural beauty. She hopes to encourage each and every woman to love themselves exactly the
way they are. Tunzi also fights against any gender-based violence as an activist.

In her closing statement in the final round, she said: " I grew up in a world where a woman
who looks like me — with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be
beautiful.” “I think it is time that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face,
and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.

A look at Vartika Singh

It was a proud moment from all Indians, as this year for the first time in the history of Miss
Universe, 5 contestants with Indian origin competed against each other for the title.
Vartika Singh who represented India made headlines by winning Miss Grand India 2015
along with Miss Universe India 2019. This glamorous Indian model was unable to make
it to the top 20. She was also the wildcard contestant to join the top 20 semi-finalists as she won
many hearts in the regional costume round. Although she looked astounding in the costume
round of the pageant, ahead of the swimsuit round, this 26 years old beauty failed to
make it to the top 10 finalists.
Let’s congratulate Zozibini Tunzi and all of the Miss Universe contestants. It was certainly a
night to remember.
